What a glib, over-rated phrase. “The secret is to be yourself…” Socrates, “Of thine own self be true…” We hear this all the time, but are we really sure what this means? Us free-footing Americans think, we’re so free, “of course I’m being myself, who isn’t?”
Think again.
The reason I am bringing this up now is that it couldn’t be more important than now.
So, how did we get here? You’ll recall, for the past 2-3 years, we’ve been experiencing a tough Uranus in Aries square to Pluto in Capricorn. Picture Pluto on home plate and Uranus at first base; that’s the right angle; the square. Well, if that isn’t heavy enough, now, Jupiter has taken up a long rental of 2nd base! Now, we have Jupiter opposite Pluto, both making a right angle (T-square) to Uranus in Aries. As if Uranus needed any help. This greatly exaggerates the oomph of Uranus which is sooooo strongly placed in the first sign of the zodiac. This means: “Do it!”, says Uranus; – and Jupiter says, “Well, hell yes!”
I won’t even mention the fact that now (because it gets so complicated) Mars is going backwards in Libra on 3rd base! That makes, you got it, a big cross with the 4 most volatile planets that there are on the compass points (for months to come).
All of this emphasis is really pushing the individual seed of all of us from within. That pertains to individuals and all groups; i.e., all entities.
Of course, being yourself has its up and down sides, which I’ll get to in a minute. This started in May of 2010 when Uranus finished its long 84-year journey through one zodiac and started anew; crossing over the finish line into the sign of new beginnings, Aries.
Certainly it has symbolized the Arab Spring, the birth of the Tea Party, the nutso ups and downs of “guns” and many other social a group revolutions. But, the biggest of all, is the revolution of self. It is time for us to be ourselves. This sounds so easy. Our human egos con us into thinking that we have no problem doing so. Right, eh?
Well…. How many of us stall before we express an opinion, fearing static from friends or family. How many of us restrain our true opinions so we’re not seen as being “wussy”, or “picky?” How many of us hide behind a projected image of ourselves so that we’ll be liked and not ostracized? I can’t tell you how many people have told me that they don’t DARE to mention their political viewpoints in front of their families! You’ve been there. Things are very touchy. And, the main reason is because we have not, until now, been ready to be ourselves on a large scale. Think about it. And Uranus doesn’t take kindly, if at all, to being repressed. He is our inner uniqueness.
The point is clear; if you look at yourself, and others closely, you’ll see the big act that’s going on. But, things are changing, and that is a wonderful sign. We are not only being inspired by Uranus’ trip through the self-oriented sign of Aries, but it’s happening on every level! Countries are feeling this, no longer wanting to be under the thumb of another. Ethnicities are doing so; as are groups, sects, families and finally individually.
If you think about it, it’s really pretty amazing that we’ve all survived for so long. And, if we hadn’t, I mean most of us, kept our mouths shut, we probably wouldn’t be here. But, that is not what this time is for. Astrologically, it is actually incredible how many astral movements are taking place at the same time. Pluto and Uranus are stirring the nuclear pot, uncovering corruption, destroying old forms and paving the way for new forms of government, or ways of co-existing. Neptune and Chiron in Pisces have been moving us with new, true inspiration from our internal Divinity. Saturn has made itself more known lately in the sign of Scorpio as it is forcing our hand to be stronger as individuals, while many more timid souls are being left in the dust.
Then, there comes this huge T-square to Uranus in Aries. All are vying for attention and all must be given part of the collective voice. We all can feel how things are changing at an incredible rate.
The essence of Uranus, the planet of upheaval and revolution (the Tower card) operates in a very aggressive, instinctive, individualized way in the fiery sign of Aries. It is about halfway through its 7-year stay in Aries. It inspires us and MAKES US FEEL READY to assert ourselves. I’m not suggesting we run all over all china shops with bulldozers, but, we have to get past our own self-imposed restrictions. That is what all of this is all about.
#1 mistake: even on a national and international level: blaming others for our inability to be ourselves.
#1 answer: take responsibility for our own actions.
It’s hard to do, eh? It SEEMS like it’s much more effective to project our problems on to others, but there’s one problem – it doesn’t work. It’s a temporary patch of self-deception that hurts everyone involved.
Never before has man or woman been as ready to come out of our variety of closets. My goodness, just look at the phenomenal rate that things are changing with gender and sexual orientation roles. Do you think that’s a coincidence? Anything goes.
I’m not advocating this or that. I’m simply saying that we learn to live together while being ourselves. Perhaps we can look back and see the source of most of our troubles have really been mislabeled; we haven’t been able to be ourselves! And then, we blame it on Democrats or Republicans, men or women, Christians or Jews, etc. As we approach the wonderful Age of Aquarius we need to know that beyond the lyrics of the Fifth Dimension, we will be inspired to leave one another alone. Let people be who they are. Respect and accept others for their differences. If we could not be ourselves all of this time, it means that we could not accept our own expression…
Then, how in the world were we supposed to be able to accept others?
As the collective ego changes, so must ours. As rigid, dogmatic church restraints loosen their grips on our hell-fire-fear world of guilt and original sin, we are FINALLY being liberated. And astrology shows us that the diploma is being delivered from within, in a natural manner. That, is Uranus in Aries. That, is why I’m writing “The Intimate Zodiac”. It’s all happening much closer to ourselves than we realize. God is closer to “us” than we think. It’s time we started really listening to the words we SAY we believe in and bring them to life in a very personal way.
Be yourself. What does that mean? It means you ARE okay the way you are; really? You always were. You always will be. And that means that those around you are okay too.
Who was it that said, “Everything will be okay once you are okay with everything?”
So, we all need to swallow one great big chill pill and just let everybody be. Let’s not kill one another because of our rigid opinions on guns, birth control and stem cell research. That’s why we have mouths. So we can meet and talk as intelligent citizens; making sure we not model ourselves after our greedy, myopic, lobbyist-controlled joke of a Congress.
The change has to come from our heart. Then, the imposters in D.C. will have to follow suit. We cannot win by making someone else lose – that’s volleyball.
May you find your Starself!
